One driver has been charged with traveling 85 km/h over the posted speed limit early yesterday morning in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, a uniformed officer was conducting speed enforcement on King Street in Oshawa. At 6:30 a.m., a white four-door Pontiac was clocked at 135 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. This driver was stopped and given numerous Provincial Offence Notices.

Cameron KILPATRICK, age 22, of Palace Street in Whitby, is charged with: Race a Motor Vehicle; Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence; Fail to Surrender Insurance Card; Fail to Surrender Permit and Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Permit.

This driver had his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Race a Motor Vehicle is a serious charge that comes with a mandatory seven-day driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. Fines can go as high as $10,000 plus the court costs.
