Every person who drives a motor vehicle or street car on a highway while his or her driver’s licence is suspended is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable for a driving under suspension charge. For a first offence, the driver can receive a driving under suspension charge of no less than $1000 and no more than $5000. For each subsequent offence, the driver is liable to a charge of no less than $2000 and no more than $5000 or to imprisonment for a term of no more than six months.
